What I'm listening to.... Day #2

Another day without you with me
Is like a blade that cuts right through me
But I can wait
I can wait forever

- I Can Wait Forever.... Simple Plan.

So if you couldn't tell already I am so a lyric type person. If a song doesn't have meaningful lyrics what's the point of writing a song? Take rap music. Totally not dissing any rapper out there, for I too am a fan of that genre. But really.... Other than Tupac or Biggie what rapper has written a great song with amazing lyrics? Probably not a lot. Music is a waste if there's no meaning behind the lyrics, don't ya think? Anyways I totally just got off my subject completely with that rap rant... My b!

Today's song is I Can Wait Forever by Simple Plan. The part I wanna talk about is the lyrics posted above. You reading this may take it as waiting for the love of your life coming back, I can take it in a whole other context. See if you can follow my CRAZYY logic mmkay? Here goes.

Sure the song is about a break up, but break up from what? They happen all the time. Best friends break up, families break up, the list could go on and on!

I take the friend perspective when it comes to this song. I find myself thinking about the friends I used to have but no longer have due to stupid fights. It's one of the most painful things you'll ever do in your life. You never realize how attached you get to your friends till you no longer have the option of seeing them. For some odd reason this song gives me a little ray of hope of holding on to them. There's a saying I want to share with you. It goes: "People always leave, sometimes they come back"

What I'm listening to.... Day #1

It's hot out today. I'm inside in my haven of a room (where there is also air conditioning), listening to the music that saves me.

Song playing right now is For Blue Skies by a indie band called Strays Don't Sleep. The harmonies in the song just make you feel different, a little less scared or a little more safe in the world around you. I don't know maybe it's me.

The tag in the song is what hits you like a ton of bricks. It's simple yet so empowering and moving. Just a simple "I forgive you". It's more of a hook than a tag but it's amazing. This song always gets me thinking about all the people in my own life I wish would say those simple words to me, or the people I should be saying it to.

As this song plays I don't know why but I'm making a list of people these words would effect. I wish I was courageous enough to say it to some friends I've screwed over. Wish I could say the words to my father, who has more than hurt me. I wish my best friend would say these words to me.

The line in the song that totally just punches you in the gut, if you can relate to the lyrics, goes like this.... "What you couldn't do I will. I forgive you." Oh man, that's so mind blowing. It shows character and grace in humanity, yeah bet your shocked those characteristics still exists right?? Me too. That there are people who take the high road and forgive the person that hurt them, even though their not the ones at fault. And for that I would love to get the opportunity to thank Matthew Ryan for writing those words. Words are powerful. Music is powerful.
